AFTERCARE GUIDELINES

Aftercare Guidelines for Permanent Cosmetics by Lust for Lashes

Congratulations on your new permanent cosmetics procedure from Lust for Lashes! Whether you've had your eyebrows, eyeliner, or lips done, it's important to take care of your skin after the procedure to get the best results. Following these simple aftercare steps will help you heal properly and make sure your new look lasts as long as possible.

Keep the Area Clean and Dry

For the first few days, you’ll need to keep the treated area clean and dry. Gently pat the area with a clean, damp cotton pad if needed, but avoid using soap or soaking the area in water. This helps prevent any infections and ensures your skin heals well.

Don’t Touch or Rub the Area

It might be tempting to touch or rub the area, especially if it feels itchy, but try not to! Your hands carry bacteria, and touching the area could cause irritation or infection. If you’re feeling uncomfortable, use a cotton swab to gently apply any healing ointment that was recommended.

Apply Ointment as Directed

Your artist will give you a healing ointment to use. Make sure to follow their instructions carefully. Apply a thin layer to keep the area moisturized, but avoid putting too much on, as this can interfere with healing.

Don’t Pick or Scratch

As your skin heals, it may start to flake or scab. It can be tempting to pick at it, but don’t! Picking or scratching can pull out the pigment and lead to uneven results. Let the scabs fall off naturally for the best outcome.

Stay Out of the Sun

Direct sunlight can cause your new permanent makeup to fade. Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks after your procedure. Once you’re fully healed, use sunscreen to protect the area and keep the color vibrant.

Avoid Makeup and Skincare Products

Don’t apply makeup or skincare products on the treated area until it’s fully healed. The chemicals in these products could cause irritation or infection and affect how your skin heals.

Limit Exercise

Sweating can interfere with the healing process, so it’s a good idea to avoid intense workouts for about a week. Light activity is fine, but make sure to keep the area dry.

No Swimming or Saunas

Stay away from swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms until your skin is fully healed. Excess moisture can slow down the healing process and cause the pigment to fade or become uneven.

Specific Aftercare Tips

For Eyebrows:

  • For the first two days, gently blot your brows with a cotton pad to remove any fluid.
  • Keep the area dry (except for cleaning) and apply the healing ointment lightly for about a week.

For Eyeliner:

  • Avoid rubbing your eyes and use a cotton round to gently blot away any fluid.
  • Apply a thin layer of ointment and avoid eye makeup until fully healed.

For Lips:

  • Keep your lips moisturized with the ointment provided.
  • Avoid spicy or salty foods that could irritate them and use straws to drink.
  • The color may look bold at first but will soften as your lips heal over the next few weeks.

What to Expect During Healing

It’s normal to experience some redness, swelling, and mild itching while your skin heals. This should go away within a few days. Right after your procedure, the area might look darker than expected, but the color will fade and settle as your skin recovers.

If you notice anything unusual, like extreme redness, swelling, or signs of infection (such as pus), contact your artist right away.

Long-Term Care Tips

To keep your permanent makeup looking fresh over time:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure: Once healed, use sunscreen on the treated area to prevent fading from the sun.
  • Schedule touch-ups: Permanent makeup can fade over time, so you might need touch-ups to keep your look just right.
  • Be gentle with the area: Even after healing, avoid harsh scrubs or exfoliating treatments to protect the pigment.

By following these aftercare steps, you’ll help your skin heal properly and ensure your permanent cosmetics from Lust for Lashes look stunning for a long time!
